Vice President Barbour: Thank you to all for a total team effort

Dear Penn State Faithful,

As we complete our challenging fall 2020 semester and head into the holidays and spring 2021 with hope in our hearts, I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made it possible for students to live, learn and connect (socially distanced and safely, of course!). It has taken a total team effort and I’m proud and privileged to have worked with administration, faculty and staff to make on-campus learning and living possible. Thank you to everyone who has worked with Intercollegiate Athletics to meet specific needs of our student-athletes and helped make training and competition safe and possible. We Are … Grateful for your incredible work and service to all of our students.

To our student-athletes, coaches, support staff and our ICA ONETEAM: You are amazing! Your commitment to a safe and responsible return to training and competition has been second to none. I know these last few months have been difficult, but you have met every challenge with resiliency and determination, and always with a priority on safety and health. We will persevere, with our incredibly talented and committed sports medicine, sports performance and coaches leading the way.

To our student-athletes, thank you all for the sacrifices you have made to wear the Blue & White. We look forward to seeing you all have the opportunity to compete in 2021!

As always, our community has stood by our students with steadfast resolve. I am incredibly grateful to our alumni, season tickets holders and fans of all of our 31 programs who have engaged with our student-athletes and programs and supported us in a variety of ways to allow us to continue our pursuit of “Preparing Students for a Lifetime of Impact.” Please know all of us at Penn State Athletics miss you as a vital part of our success and experience and can’t wait for the time when we can engage in a more usual “Penn State Way!”

Our best to all of you for a happy, safe and healthy holiday season, and a 2021 return to a more normal Penn State! We remain incredibly grateful for our entire community and all you bring to the Penn State experience.

Best wishes,

Sandy Barbour
