UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — This week, we recognize nine Penn Staters who go above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Thank you to:

Nancy Burns, at Penn State New Kensington, whose nominator wrote: "Nancy epitomizes the phrase 'customer service.' When guests arrive in our office she is the first to greet them and to ask if they need help. She often walks them to other offices if they aren’t familiar with campus. We pride ourselves on personal attention, and Nancy definitely walks that walk!"

Halie Kines, a student, whose nominator wrote: "Stepping way outside of her comfort zone, Halie has demonstrated great passion for Penn State, a commitment to learning and personal growth, and demonstrates our core value of service to new Penn Staters by introducing how they, too, can "build (their) lion legacy" at New Student Orientation!"

Michael Blake, with Student Affairs, whose nominator wrote: "Since taking on his role as Schwab Manager, he has succeeded in revitalizing student life at the theater and increasing student engagement in the Performing Arts. His enthusiasm for producing student productions has helped his student employees grow immensely and student performers perfect their art."

Debbie Blanton, Michael McDade, Jenna Eckel and Matt Bodek, at Penn State Brandywine, whose nominator wrote: "Debbie Blanton, Michael McDade, Jenna Eckel and Matt Bodek are the local team that led the website redesign for Brandywine, the first Commonwealth Campus to use the new platform. Along with the University project team, their expertise and commitment resulted in a smooth and successful launch!"

Joan Brown, with the Office of Student Conduct, whose nominator wrote: "Joan is the first impression our internal and external customers experience upon entering or calling our office. She takes her work seriously, yet, has a great sense of humor, and displays welcoming respect towards all students and visitors... Thank you, Joan!"

Charlene Petkac, with Undergraduate Education, whose nominator wrote: "Charlene is a data wizard. She's always so quick to respond to my (frequent) requests for help in correcting undergraduate admissions records. Professional, pleasant and prompt, she is truly an asset to the Undergraduate Admissions Office community."

Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form. For more information about the process, visit the "We Are!" guidelines
