A look back at the top stories from the week of Nov. 15:

$5 MILLION GIFT: Penn State alumnus and philanthropist Charles H. "Skip" Smith committed $5 million to advance the work in brain repair research at the University.

HAPPY VALLEY LAUNCHBOX: As part of the Invent Penn State initiative, the University introduced Happy Valley LaunchBox, a new no-cost business accelerator program with co-working space in downtown State College for startups from Penn State and the local community.

#GIVINGTUESDAY: On Dec. 1, members of the Penn State community are invited to make a gift to any area of the University as part of Penn State's participation in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving observed on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving by nonprofit organizations and their supporters.

DAIRY NUTRITION: For more than 150 years, Penn State researchers have been examining dairy nutrition. Their pioneering work over the years has given rise to a number of innovations, not to mention products at the Penn State Berkey Creamery.

WOMEN'S PHILANTHROPIC NETWORK: The establishment of the Women's Philanthropic Network at Penn State York is the first of its kind at the University.

HACKENBERG'S COMMITMENT: Through good times and tough times, Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg's commitment to and love of the University have never wavered.

VISUAL IDENTITY AWARD: Penn State's newly redesigned mark won a Gold Award from Transform Magazine, the only global magazine to cover rebranding and brand development for "Best Visual Identity from the Education Sector." Penn State launched its new graphic identity in August.
