GREEK SCORE CARD: Penn State on Oct. 13 launched a key measure — the Greek Chapter Score Card — designed to help students and families make informed decisions about membership in a Greek-letter organization. Additionally, the Penn State Hotline has been streamlined for expedited response to allegations of hazing.
2018 CLASS GIFT: Penn State's Class of 2018 is returning to an old tradition of selecting multiple areas of the University to benefit form their support. The 2018 Class Gift Committee revealed the gifts during a campaign event held Oct. 18.
STAR WARS: When two neutron stars collided on Aug. 17, a widespread search for electromagnetic radiation from the event led to observations of light from the afterglow of the explosion, finally connecting a gravitational-wave-producing event with conventional astronomy using light, according to an international team of astronomers.
MACARTHUR GENIUS: Jason De León, a 2008 doctoral graduate in anthropology, was recently named to the list of 2017 MacArthur Fellowship recipients. The MacArthur Fellowship, also known as the "genius grant," is a prestigious award given to those who display exceptional creativity and significant accomplishments in their respective fields.
STATE OF EXCELLENCE: Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is highlighting the varied and numerous achievements of its 800 student-athletes during the second annual STATE of Excellence Week, Oct. 16-22.
