THON: Brady Lucas survived childhood cancer survivor twice and was a Four Diamonds child, which is how he first got involved with Penn State’s IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon. Now healthy and a student at Penn State's University Park campus, Lucas is giving back to THON through his fraternity and other outreach.
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI: Eight Penn State alums have been chosen to receive the Distinguished Alumni Award, the University highest honor presented to alumni.
FLSA: Penn State will implement new regulations outlined by the U.S. Department of Labor's Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) on Dec. 1, which will impact in various ways a number of current employees as well as the University overall.
STUDENT TOWN HALL: Students are invited to a town hall and panel discussion with members of the Penn State Board of Trustees to discuss diversity and inclusion at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 15 in Robb Hall at the Hintz Family Alumni Center.
SPE CARES: Aniruddh Sameth, a College of Earth and Mineral Sciences’ senior majoring in petroleum and natural gas engineering, was able to see his dream reach fruition. SPE Cares, an international charity group he co-founded, began its first mission in Dubai, planting more than 200 trees with the help of dozens of volunteers.
POLICE TRUST: According to a new poll, more than 8 out of 10 Pennsylvanians trust their local police, and public attitude toward police reflects public attitude toward the federal and state government. However, while support from the general public is high, there are mitigating factors for individual attitudes.
VR TEACHING: Penn State researchers are offering prototype versions of immersive virtual reality lessons in three courses this fall and spring to engage students in the advantages and promises that such learning offers.
