Annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive supports local families and the Lion’s Pantry

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State community is invited to participate in the annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive, a tradition aimed at supporting local families in need and the on-campus Lion’s Pantry.

This year’s drive, hosted by the Office of Student Leadership and Involvement and the Civic Engagement Alliance, provides students, faculty, staff and organizations an opportunity to give back during the holiday season.

Groups interested in participating can complete the online interest form to reserve a box. Open to all students, faculty, and staff, the drive offers a way to connect with local families and reflect Penn State’s commitment to fostering a compassionate and engaged community.

Once completed, participating groups can pick up a donation box and a list of needed items from the Student Leadership and Involvement office in 103 HUB-Robeson Center. Groups also can request delivery of boxes by emailing serviceleadership@psu.edu. Each boxes provides a complete meal for a family of four.

Once filled, boxes can be returned on Tuesday, Nov. 19, and Wednesday, Nov. 20, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Completed boxes will be decorated and delivered to local families in need. Participating groups also also encouraged to decorate their boxes.

Any items in excess will be donated to the Lion’s Pantry, which supports students facing food insecurity at Penn State.
