Campus Recreation launches summer pool memberships and new aquatic programs

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — For the first time in more than five years, Penn State Campus Recreation at University Park is granting access to the McCoy Natatorium’s outdoor pool with summer 2025 memberships. Memberships are open to the community and will provide a unique opportunity to enjoy one of Penn State’s aquatic facilities throughout the summer.

Memberships are available for $160 and will begin May 12 and will run through Aug. 22. A prorated rate of $80 will go into effect starting July 5. Daily passes also are available for $10. Memberships and passes can be purchased by anyone 18 years or older with a valid photo ID. Sales are available at the McCoy outdoor pool check-in desk and the IM Building Membership Office.

Summer memberships include access to McCoy Natatorium's current open pool. Memberships also will have access to both short course (SC) (25 yards) and long course (LC) (50 meters) setups throughout the week. The weekly outdoor pool schedule is as follows:

  • Monday: noon–2 p.m. (SC), 4–7 p.m. (SC)
  • Tuesday: noon–3 p.m. (LC), 5–7 p.m. (SC)
  • Wednesday: noon–2 p.m. (SC), 4–7 p.m. (SC)
  • Thursday: noon–3 p.m. (LC), 3:30–7 p.m. (SC)
  • Friday: noon–2 p.m. (SC), 4–7 p.m. (SC)
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m.–5 p.m. (SC)

In the event of inclement weather — such as temperatures below 60 degrees Fahrenheit, heavy rain or lightning within 10 miles — swimming will be moved indoors in a short course format. Patrons are encouraged to check the swim calendar for up-to-date hours, especially as events and rentals may affect pool availability.
