UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Career Services will host an open house for all students, faculty and staff from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Bank of America Career Services Building at University Park.

Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet career-focused staff from across the University, learn about resources like Nittany Lion Careers and the Professional Attire Closet, and discover how they can benefit from meeting with a career counselor during drop-in and career counseling sessions.

Visitors do not need to register and can explore resources, win prizes, enjoy snacks, and take a photo with the Nittany Lion.

Program Coordinator Jada Quinland encourages all students to visit Career Services to understand how crucial career planning can be for success while at Penn State and after graduation.

“This annual open house is aimed to kick-start and amplify our team’s inclusive career readiness efforts. Students and alumni should come to this event to help us get a better idea of what current students are passionate about and what they stand for so we may gather better understanding of where our services can be integrated,” Quinland said. “Our team at Career Services wants to meet our Penn State community where they are in their academic and professional journeys, so they can authentically thrive in career competencies.”

Students of all years and interests are encouraged to attend to meet staff and learn about career planning, how to search for internships and job opportunities, professional development, and more. Career Services supports students of all career interests, majors and colleges during their time on campus and beyond.

Bob Orndorff, senior director of Career Services, said that the open house is a relaxing and festive event for students to get to know the unit and how they can find support.

“Figuring out what to do after college, searching for internships, and applying to full-time jobs can feel a bit overwhelming for most students,” he said. “Our open house is a nice way for students to connect with our team while enjoying some free food and a welcoming atmosphere.”

Faculty and staff also will have the opportunity to connect with career professionals and learn ways to integrate career development into classes and programs.

Career Services, a unit in the division of Student Affairs, aims to help students identify interests, career goals and opportunities for professional development in conjunction with colleagues in various college and campus offices. Learn more at studentaffairs.psu.edu/career
