Center for Arts and Crafts announces fall classes and workshops

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Registration is now open for the Center for Arts and Crafts' fall art classes and workshops. The center offers a variety of classes, including wheel-thrown pottery, acrylic painting, Chinese calligraphy painting, watercolor, drawing, stained glass, and jazz and lyrical dancing.  

The center also offers one-time workshops, including crochet, hand-built ceramic fairy gardens, paint-your-own pottery, embroidery and polymer clay jewelry.

Classes and workshops are designed for beginner and intermediate skill levels and are taught by Penn State students majoring in art or art education, graduate students, and professional artists. Class sizes are small, and classes are offered in a relaxed atmosphere. 

In-person classes are broken into two sessions. Session 1 begins the week of Sept. 12; session 2 begins the week of Oct. 24. 

Classes and workshops are open to Penn State students, faculty and staff, and attendees must have a valid Penn State ID. Email the center for Arts and Crafts for questions or to make reservations for classes.

In addition to in-person classes, the center offers Crafty Kits, which include all the supplies to create a project on your own at home. Kits will be distributed on the ground floor of the HUB-Robeson Center by the fish tanks on the following dates: Sept. 9, Sept. 23, Oct. 7, Oct. 21, Oct. 28, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2. Crafty Kits are free with a Penn State student ID. 

The center also offers create-at-home guides on the website. 

The Center for Arts and Crafts is part of the Office of Student Activities in Penn State Student Affairs. The center is located in 3 Ritenour Building at University Park.
