Greek members will see new fee on spring tuition statement

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Greek members will see a new Greek Membership Fee listed on their December student account statement, which includes their spring tuition. The fee is one of the new measures announced on Aug. 21, 2017, to provide enhanced support to the University's Greek-letter community and to promote student safety.

The fee for IFC or Panhellenic chapter members is $90 per semester. For Multicultural Greek Council or National Pan-Hellenic Council members, the fee is $30 per semester. Students will see the fee listed on their account statement every semester that they continue membership in a Greek organization.

The Greek Membership Fee will support increased safety initiatives, resources, education and leadership programming. The fee will also fund the creation of 13 ½ new positions in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, the Office of Student Conduct, and the newly created Office of Fraternity and Sorority Compliance to monitor and assess Greek organizations.

The Greek Membership Fee is part of a comprehensive set of new measures aimed at curbing dangerous drinking, hazing, sexual assault and other negative behaviors and consequences found within Greek life across the nation.

Students who have questions about the new fee can contact the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at 814-863-8065 or greeks@psu.edu
