UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Megan Pepper has been announced as the new director of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, a unit in the division of Student Affairs, effective June 1.

Pepper has served as the interim director of the office since April 2022. During her time as an interim leader, she has led the charge of developing and implementing a comprehensive fraternity and sorority program that promotes core values of the University, implements strategic initiatives, and works to enhance existing relationships with key stakeholders and students in the Greek community.

Pepper said she is looking forward to continuing to enhance programs, services, and relationships to help student leaders reach their full potential.

“I am ecstatic to serve our fraternity and sorority community in this new capacity. I strongly believe that fraternity and sorority involvement adds significant value to undergraduate student experiences and am grateful for Penn State’s ongoing investment in the vital cultural change of our organizations and community,” Pepper said.

Prior to stepping in to the interim role she served as the associate director of the unit, working to support a robust community of over 70 chapters and 4 governing councils with educational programming focused on leadership, membership development, recruitment, and health and safety.

“I am extremely pleased to have Megan in the director role,” said Diane Andrews, associate vice president for Student Affairs.

“Megan has proven to be an extremely capable and collaborative director while in her interim role. Her experience and leadership will allow the office to build on the efforts she has already started,” Andrews said.

Prior to her roles at Penn State, Pepper served as the director and the coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life at the University of Nevada, Reno, from 2015 to 2019 and as an area director in the Department of Residence Life at Edgewood College from 2014 to 2015.

“Megan's strong experience both at Penn State and at the University of Nevada prepares her to lead Fraternity and Sorority Life at an important time at the University. She brings knowledge of Greek life including all four councils and the diversity of their respective organizations, an appreciation of student leadership and development, and an ability to work across the multiple stakeholders of the fraternity and sorority community,” said Andrea Dowhower, interim vice president of Student Affairs. “We are excited to have her assume the director role and be part of the larger Student Affairs team advancing student learning and success.”

In addition to her professional roles, Pepper currently serves on the fraternity and sorority knowledge community leadership team at the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. She has lead leadership retreat sessions at Kent State and Purdue University as well as facilitating various sessions for national fraternity and sorority organizations.

Pepper earned both a bachelor of arts in Communication Arts and Spanish and a master of science in Higher, Postsecondary, and Continuing Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
