Piazza Center seeking nominations for a Student Research Advisory Committee

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research and Reform is seeking nominations to create a Student Research Advisory Committee. The student committee will help guide the work of the center by consulting on research projects and assisting with project development on a volunteer basis.

The center is looking for undergraduate students who are interested in uplifting the fraternity and sorority experience and contributing their perspectives to current and future research.

To nominate a student, a fraternity and sorority life professional at a campus or headquarters may send a copy of the student’s resume as well as a short, one-paragraph description of why the nominee would represent fraternity and sorority life well via email to the PiazzaCenter@psu.edu by Jan. 21, 2022. Selections will be made based on the diversity of candidates and capacity.

Student committee members will complete a minimum term of two semesters and must participate in at least three meetings per year. It is preferred that students are active fraternity and sorority members.

The Piazza Center’s mission is to uplift fraternity and sorority life, and the center’s research agenda is based on a change model focused on a two-pronged approach to stronger and safer organizations.

  • Stronger: Enhancing student learning, specifically around leadership; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and service
  • Safer: Focusing on campus prevention and intervention, including prevention of hazing, substance misuse, and dangerous drinking

The center produces actionable data to give practitioners, campuses, and headquarters the evidence needed to enact significant change on their campuses for the over 750,000 members across more than 770 campuses with fraternity and sorority life.
