UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The fifth annual Summer Solstice Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dr. Keiko Miwa Ross Student Farm, a unit in the division of Student Affairs. Free and open to the public, the community is invited to celebrate the longest day of the year.

Rebelz Mobile Cuisine and Savory Station food trucks, both featuring fresh produce from the Ross Student Farm, live music by T’n’T Deluxe, corn hole, a smoothie bike and more, will be available on the site. Both food trucks accept credit cards for food purchases. Student Farm Club merchandise will also be available for purchase with cash or check only.

Casual tours of the farm will be offered throughout the evening. Guests can also learn about upcoming plans to build a facility on the farm. Architecture firm DIGASAU, landscape architecture firm Ground Control, and agricultural and food safety planning company Organic Planet will all be on hand to discuss the emerging vision for the farm.

“We are excited to invite the campus and the broader community to enjoy a fun and relaxed evening with us on the farm,” said Leslie Pillen, director of the farm program. “Our students put in a lot of effort to grow beautiful produce, and the summer solstice is a great time to experience the bounty of the season.”

Guests are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, sun protection, a picnic blanket or lawn chair to sit on and sturdy shoes. Pets are not permitted to prevent damage to food crops currently in production.

The Ross Student Farm is located near the intersection of Big Hollow and Fox Hollow roads. Location details and directions can be found on the Ross Student Farm website. Guests may park in the paved lot next to the farm. Those in need of parking accommodations can email studentfarm@psu.edu.

In the case of inclement weather, guests should check the Student Farm Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.
