UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The call for nominations for the Rock Ethics Institute’s annual Stand Up Awards ends Friday, Feb. 4.
The Stand Up Awards recognize Penn State undergraduate students for demonstrating ethical leadership by "standing up" for a cause, idea or belief.
Nominations for the 2022 Stand Up Awards should be submitted online. The judging process is scheduled to begin next week.
Any faculty, staff, student or community member may nominate undergraduate students in any major from any campus for a Stand Up Award.
“If a student's commitment to service and justice has deeply impressed you, we encourage you to nominate them today for a Stand up Award,” said Ben Jones, assistant director of the Rock Ethics Institute.
Each 2022 award winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and be honored during the Stand Up Awards ceremony at the Hintz Family Alumni Center on April 11.
Past winners have demonstrated ethical leadership in many different areas, including restorative justice, access to healthcare, preventing sexual violence, and sustainable agriculture. Each Stand Up honoree has a unique story of courage and determination in their efforts to create a more just world.
Students nominated for a 2022 Stand Up Award must have been enrolled full time at the University for at least one semester during the 2021-22 academic year.

The Rock Ethics Institute was established in 2001 through the support of Doug and Julie Rock. The institute promotes engaged ethics research and ethical leadership from its home in Penn State’s College of the Liberal Arts.
