LionPATH updates 'Class Search' feature for students

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The LionPATH Development and Maintenance Organization (LDMO), in partnership with the Office of the University Registrar (OUR), has developed a new "Class Search" available in the LionPATH Student Home Base beginning Feb. 1. The new feature was developed based on feedback from students, academic advisers and a stakeholder group with representation across campuses. This is a major step in efforts to provide a better user experience in searching for and enrolling in classes.

The new "Class Search" provides the flexibility to search by keywords or to select a subject area from an autocomplete list. If desired, the search results can then be filtered based on user selections. Users will be able to make multiple selections within each of the filters — for example, users can select multiple campuses, instruction modes and course attributes. More information about how to use "Class Search" is available on the LionPATH Support website in the "Student Help" section under “Course and Class Search,” then “Using the New Class Search.”

The updated search feature will be part of a new “Find Classes and Enroll” navigation collection that will eventually replace the existing “Find Classes” and “Enrollment” navigation collections. During the spring semester, students can access both the new and existing "Class Search." The Schedule Builder will remain available to users as well.

While the new feature is not directly accessible from the Advisor Home Base, faculty and staff with access to “See What the Student Sees” can access the new "Class Search" and complete searches through that navigation available in the Advisee Details section.

The LDMO will solicit feedback on the new functionality later this semester to inform future improvements to the LionPATH experience.
