Nominate an adviser for the Excellence in Academic Advising Award

Nominations accepted through Nov. 21

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State undergraduate students at all campuses can now nominate an academic adviser for the 2026 Excellence in Academic Advising Award.

Students should consider nominating an academic adviser who has helped them navigate the University’s academic system, plan a fulfilling program of study, consider co-curricular experiences, and learn to manage their own educational journey at Penn State.

Nominations are open until Nov. 21 and can be submitted at advising.psu.edu.

The University-wide award is sponsored by the University Advising Council and the Office of Undergraduate Education. One award is given annually to a faculty member and one to a professional academic adviser. All current full-time University employees with undergraduate advising responsibilities and two years of advising experience at Penn State are eligible.

Advisers selected for the 2026 Excellence in Advising Award will be recognized by the University in the spring.

Questions can be directed to David Smith, associate dean for advising and executive director of the Division of Undergraduate Studies.

The 2025 awardees were Robert Morehead, associate teaching professor of astronomy and astrophysics in the Eberly College of Science; Gretchen Samchuck, academic affairs advising coordinator and advising programs manager in the Division of Undergraduate Studies at Penn State Beaver.
