      Things to Do at Penn State: Jan. 10—18

      What's happening at Penn State? Here's a look at some of the cultural events taking place at the University for the remainder of the fall semester:

      Performances

      EDM producer Cashmere Cat — 9:00 p.m., Jan. 18, Alumni Hall, HUB-Robeson Center, University Park campus. The Penn State Student Programming Association Concerts committee is bringing Norwegian EDM Producer Cashmere Cat to the University Park campus for a free concert.

      Events

      Dr. Martin Luther King Memorial Banquet — 6:00 p.m., Jan. 15, Bryce Jordan Center, University Park campus. The program includes a buffet dinner and cash bar, followed by performances and recognition of the 2019 Forum on Black Affairs Humanitarian Award recipient. Immediately following the banquet, guests are welcomed to stay for a night of dancing.

      David Hogg of March for Our Lives — 7 p.m., Jan. 18, Heritage Hall, HUB-Robeson Center, University Park campus. Penn State's Student Programming Association Lectures Committee welcomes David Hogg, a co-founder of the youth-led gun violence prevention movement March for our Lives, for a lecture as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series. Tickets required.

      LECTURES

      "Gallery Talk: Subjective Spaces" — 12:10 p.m., Jan. 11, Print study room, Palmer Museum of Art, University Park campus. Patrick McGrady, senior curator at the Palmer Museum of Art, and Cathy Braasch, Assistant Professor of Architecture, will discuss the drawings and collages of American artist Robert Reed.

      Exhibits

      "A Full Course: Encounters with Food" — Through Jan. 13, 2019, Pattee Library, University Park campus. An exhibit featuring appetizing books, award-winning cookbooks, manuscripts and archive materials. Free.

      "Into the Woods" — Through Feb. 11, 2019, Pattee Library, University Park campus. The exhibit explores the eastern U.S. forest, its wildlife and botanical wealth, while also paying tribute to early women naturalists and conservationists. Free.

      "The Bearded Lady Project: Challenging the Face of Science" — Through Feb. 22, 2019, Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum and Art Gallery, 18 Deike Building, University Park campus. A traveling documentary film and photographic exhibit highlighting women in science and focusing on the issues they face. Free.
