UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries and the University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA) are continuing their partnership to enhance student-centered services and resources for University Park students. Most recently, developments include extended spring hours weeknights at Pattee Library and Paterno Library.

“Although library usage data has informed our decision to close Pattee Library and Paterno Library at midnight during the week throughout the semester, we are committed to listening and responding to students’ needs and ensuring a positive student experience in our spaces,” Rebecca Waltz, associate dean for learning and engagement, said. “We are excited to announce that, through the end of this semester, we are able to extend our Pattee Library and Paterno Library Sunday through Thursday operating hours to 2 a.m. to enable students at University Park to spend more time with the University Libraries’ spaces, services and resources.”

Pattee Library and Paterno Library will remain open April 27–May 1 and May 4-8 until 2 a.m. On Friday and Saturday nights May 2-3 and May 9-10 it will close at 7 p.m.

“This partnership is clearly delivering for University Park students, and we are incredibly grateful for this announcement from the Libraries,” Dawson Glogau, UPUA at-large representative in the UPUA and representative to the University Libraries Student Advisory Board, said. “The UPUA firmly believes that expanding access to the Libraries, whether in longer hours or creative resources, continues to be essential for students’ academic success.”

Noah Youcheff, UPUA chair of academic affairs, supported Dawson’s statement.

Summer hours at the Libraries’ locations University-wide will begin Sunday, May 11, and continue through Sunday, Aug. 24. Hours vary across University Park and Commonwealth Campus Libraries’ locations and are listed for the current week and viewable by month on the University Libraries’ Hours and Locations web page.
