UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Dec. 13 marks the last day of regular classes for this semester at Penn State's University Park campus, which means that finals week is quickly approaching. A daunting task to most, with multiple exams, projects and papers due during this week, the culmination of the semester can be a stressful time for students.
In an effort to alleviate some of the stress many students experience during finals week, Penn State offers multiple resources for students to take a break from studying.
Life Hacks Stress Workshop: To conclude Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Life Hacks program for the semester, a final workshop will be held on Dec. 16. The workshop will feature stress-management strategies, and will take place in 540 Student Health Center from 4-5 p.m. It is free and open to all students.
Finals week Chat Chat event with Luke the Lab: Also hosted by CAPS, this event will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Dec. 18, at the HUB and will feature Luke, the CAPS therapy dog. Stop by between exams to meet Luke and relieve some stress.
Arts and crafts with Student Programming Association (SPA): SPA will host arts and crafts workshops as study breaks for students from Monday through Thursday of finals week in the HUB.
Intramural (IM) Building Relaxation Room: The Health Promotion and Wellness Relaxation Room is located in the Wellness Suite in Room 020 of the IM Building. Open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., students are encouraged to stop by and unplug.
Yoga with Campus Recreation: Fitness and Wellness, a unit of Campus Recreation, offers daily Yoga classes for stress management and exercise. These classes are a great way to take a study break. Visit the Fitness and Wellness webpage for the full schedule.
Finals week snacks in the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center: Fuel your brain with finals week snacks available in the Pasquerilla Center all throughout finals week hosted by the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development.
De-Stress Fest in the Library: The libraries will offer snacks, coffee wellness promotion tools and activities for stress management throughout finals week. All five University Park libraries are participating and the full schedule can be found here.
