UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Fall 2018 classes are now open for registration through the Learning Resource Network. Classes are taught by an IBCLC — an international board-certified lactation consultant — so all information provided is supported by the latest research. The University’s IBCLC draws on her experience from working with mothers and babies for over the last 15 years.
PSU-140: Basics of Breastfeeding
This class provides information needed to prepare a mother for breastfeeding during the early weeks. Topics include: normal newborn behavior; establishing milk supply; positioning and latch; and how to tell if the baby is getting enough milk. This class is ideally taken before the baby is born.
PSU-141: Working and Breastfeeding
This class covers information related to combining work/student life and breastfeeding. Topics may include: planning for returning to work or class; milk pumping and storage; and bottle feeding a breastfed baby. This class is ideally taken either before the baby is born or during the early weeks after delivery.
