UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A competition that encourages Penn State students to find solutions to the challenges facing women's professional sports in the United States has been initiated by the interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Sports and Society.

The call for entries offers a challenge for competitors to develop a long-range plan to increase the popularity of U.S. women's professional sports.

The entry deadline is April 1, with results announced April 22. The winner will receive a $300 gift certificate to a local bookstore, with two honorable mentions each receiving a $100 gift certificate.

Specific details about submissions for the contest may be found at http://sites.psu.edu/sportscenter/.

The interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Sports in Society supports research, teaching, public programs and service across Penn State related to the study of sport and its cultural, economic and social impact.
