Memorial service for students
A memorial service honoring the 32 University students who died during the past academic year will be held at 12:15 p.m. Friday, April 23, in the Worship Hall of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center, University Park. For information, call (814) 865-6548.

IST Future Forum scheduled
Demonstrations on interactive gaming, human-computer interaction, network design and search-engine capability by faculty members of the School of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) are among the activities slated for the IST Future Forum April 23 and April 24.

Breakout sessions on homeland security, Web services and intelligent agents also are scheduled. Several of the school's corporate sponsors including Lockheed Martin Corp., IBM, Sun Microsystems, Allstate Insurance and PNC will showcase cutting-edge technology products and services. IST students will show off group projects as part of a Student Consulting Contest, and representatives of corporate partners will discuss careers in information technology.

Computer Store Expo is April 29
The Penn State Computer Store's annual expo will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 29 in The Nittany Lion Inn Ballroom, University Park. The Computer Store will showcase its licensed software services, as well as its compact disc duplication services. Items that will be available for hands-on experience include digital cameras, laptops, MP3 players and personal digital assistants. A number of vendors also will attend. Talent Search Program planned
The University's Talent Search Program will conduct a college and career exploration day today and Thursday, April 29, at the University Park campus for students in eighth, ninth and 10th grades from Aliquippa, Clairton, Farrell, New Kensington-Arnold and Sharon school districts.

Students will arrive at 10 a.m. at Pollock Commons and remain on campus until 4:30 p.m. This program is co-sponsored by Hershey Foods Corp., the Office of the Vice Provost for Educational Equity and the following colleges: The Smeal College of Business Administration, Health and Human Development, Education, Agricultural Sciences, Earth and Mineral Sciences, and the School of Information Sciences and Technology.

Students will work on a case study outlining the processes involved in producing Hershey candy products and how each of the colleges would apply their specialties in these processes. Students will complete a journal detailing their reflections, give a presentation on what they learned and then take a tour of the University Park campus.

Open house offers nursing information
Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus will hold an open house on Thursday, April 29, for those considering nursing as a career. The 5 to 7 p.m. event will feature tours of the campus, opportunities to speak with current students and faculty, as well as information about the application process, tuition and financial aid. Information about programs of study at Penn College's main campus in Williamsport also will be available. The next Practical Nursing class at the North Campus is scheduled to begin Jan 3. Late-night bus service offered
The University Libraries and Information Technology Services (ITS) are partnering to sponsor extended CATA bus service to help students and others return home after late-night study hours. To accommodate end-of-semester study needs, operating hours throughout Pattee and Paterno Libraries will be extended until 2 a.m. Sunday, May 2, through Thursday, May 6, on the University Park campus.

The sponsorship will extend one bus on each route until 2:30 a.m., Sunday through Wednesday. The free service will run approximately every 20 minutes. The last trip leaves the Pattee Library stop on Curtin Road at 2:12 a.m. on the Blue Loop and 2:24 a.m. on the White Loop.

Library moves
The Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library will move from McAllister Building to Davey Laboratory beginning May 10 on the University Park campus. Although some collections will remain in temporary storage while renovations continue, portions of the collection will be available for public use. The move is the next phase in the renovation of Davey Laboratory that will be the final location of the merged libraries. The expected completion date will be this summer.
