UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The director of the Penn State Financial Literacy Center, Daad Rizk, has been recognized as a leading educator in her field.
Rizk is the recipient of the Institute for Financial Literacy’s 2017 Educator of the Year Award. Rizk accepted the award on Wednesday, March 29, at the Annual Conference on Financial Education in Chicago.
“It is a pleasure to present Dr. Rizk with an EIFLE award this year for her work as an educator through Penn State and in her community,” said Rachel Gordon, executive director of the Institute for Financial Literacy. “Her passion and skill for promoting financial literacy education is an inspiration to us all.”
As the director of Penn State’s Financial Literacy Center, Rizk launched a financial literacy program, MoneyCounts: A Financial Literacy Series, which delivers workshops and webinars aimed at addressing financial literacy issues such as budgeting, credit, debt management, student loans and repayment strategies. She also was instrumental in the creation of a financial literacy website, which was sponsored and funded by the Penn State Commission for Adult Learners.
The Institute for Financial Literacy is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote effective financial education and counseling.
