Campus Photography, housed most recently in the College of Arts and Architecture at the University Park campus, ceased operations on June 30. Although the services of Campus Photography were of the highest quality, the decision to eliminate the unit was made because of declining demand for its services, the increasing use of digital photography by local staff in other units, the widespread availability and cost competitiveness of outsourced photographic services, and numerous retirements within Campus Photography, which made this an appropriate time to make the change. Remaining staff have been transferred to similar positions in University Relations.
In order to provide service options for high-end photographic needs of the campus community, the University has negotiated contracts with several local photographers. Units are still free to hire a freelance photographer of their choosing, but the University agreements include negotiated rates and terms that also protect the University's ownership of the photo images.
The following photographers have been contracted to provide photographic services upon request:
-- Primary contact: Steve Tressler, Vista Professional Studios, (814) 234-1800, stressler@vistaprostudios.com
-- Secondary contacts: Mark Selders Photography, (814) 692-7720, mselders@comcast.net and Studio 2 Photography (Chuck Fong), (814) 234-2000, http://www.fongstudio2.com
Units are encouraged to contact the photographer directly to discuss their photo needs.
