UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Lavender Graduation is the annual celebration that recognizes Penn State's LGBTQ+ students and acknowledges their achievements and contributions to the University. It has been an inspiring and affirming ceremony that celebrates the achievements of graduate and undergraduate students in the LGBTQ+ community from all the Penn State campuses.

While this year’s ceremony will not take place in its traditional form, the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity still wishes to acknowledge, recognize, and celebrate those students and their significant supporters who provided assistance along the way.

In honor of their achievements, rather than a traditional ceremony, recognition will be provided to graduates through the dispersal of a rainbow tassel, stole, and graduation certificate. Individuals are encouraged to continue registering so that we can celebrate all of you in a unique way.

While this is a change from the traditional process, 2019-20 scholarship recipients, campus awards, and the graduating community will be recognized.

Graduating students can submit their information and register for Lavender Recognition through the online form: https://pennstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8GlXDDLYURtCf6l.

“This annual recognition celebrates not only the academic achievements of our graduating students, but also their persistence, courage, and strength in navigating Penn State as a member and/or supporter of the LGBTQ+ community” said Brian Patchcoski, director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity.
