Still Life: Move-in begins at IST Building

Offices in the School of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering began the move today (Dec. 2) into the new IST Building on Penn State's University Park campus. The siting of the building -- bridging Atherton Street -- gives a distinct landmark quality to the structure and, at the same time, creates a pedestrian overpass to integrate the western and central portions of the campus. In addition to academic offices, the building will house the IST Solutions Institute (the school's outreach arm); information technology research organizations; classrooms and laboratories; a variety of gathering spaces; and multimedia displays of emerging technologies.
