Students warned of email scam

Penn State's Office of the Bursar is alerting students to an email scam.

A number of Penn State students have received emails that appear to come from "admin@psu.edu." The email requests verification of billing information and includes a link that asks for banking or credit card information. This email was not sent by Penn State.

Any student who has received such a message should delete the email, and should not click on links contained within, nor should they provide any information, or respond to the email. This is a phishing email that was not sent by Penn State and the link leads to a bogus online payment site.

Students who believe they may already have clicked on the link and entered their Penn State password should immediately go to the Penn State Password Management site and follow the instructions to reset their Penn State password. For additional information, including an example of the fraudulent email in question, visit the website of the Penn State Office of the Bursar, at http://www.bursar.psu.edu/index.cfm.
