Alumni co-sponsoring Penn State Day at Knoebels

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — On Saturday, May 20, 11 Penn State organizations will co-sponsor the eighth annual Penn State Day at Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.

Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at Pavilion M. The program will begin at 11 a.m., featuring Thomas E. Range II and Roger L. Williams, who will discuss their book – "Arcadia Postcard History Series: Penn State University," and will include lunch, a performance by the Alumni Blue Band, an appearance by the Nittany Lion, and prize raffles.

Several ticket options are available and you must be registered to attend. Attendees five years and older can purchase a ticket for $22.00, which includes lunch, and a $10 food/ride ticket booklet. The cost for children (age four and under) is $12 and will include lunch and a $10 food/ride ticket. A “Lunch Only” ticket can be purchased for $12 and does not include a food/ride ticket booklet. The live entertainment and prize raffles noted above are included with all ticket prices. Penn State Day t-shirts can be ordered in advance for $10 each. The deadline for reservations is Friday, May 1.

Individual organizations hosting this event are Alumni Societies of Penn State Hazleton, Penn State Lehigh Valley, Penn State Schuylkill, Penn State Wilkes-Barre, and Penn State Worthington Scranton; and the Anthracite, Greater Binghamton, Greater Hazleton, Greater Scranton, Greater Susquehanna Valley, and Schuylkill Chapters of the Penn State Alumni Association.

Following the presentation, there will be a book signing with Thomas E. Range II and Roger L. Williams. Range is co-author of "The Penn State Blue Band: A Century of Pride and Precision" and "Into the Game: The Penn State Blue Band 1999-2009." He and Williams' book, "Penn State: Arcadia Postcard History Series: Penn State University" uses images from as far back as 1859 to today to showcase the many buildings and activities that no longer exist on the University Park campus.

Last year’s event was attended by over 500 alumni, family and friends. All are welcome.
