UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State World Campus Military Service Organization (MSO) is hosting an online event focusing on careers for military-affiliated students.
The “Hiring Our Heroes” webinar is scheduled for Feb. 8 from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Zoom. All Penn State students with a military affiliation are encouraged to attend. Carla Miller, deputy director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Career Connector Program, will share information about the organization’s programs and resources, as well as answer questions.
The MSO is a Penn State World Campus student organization that aims to connect learners with military affiliations with social and intellectual growth during their online academic journey. The group is open to any student who is a veteran, active-duty service member, military spouse, or ally of the Armed Forces.
MSO student president Paul Rodriguez said Hiring Our Heroes connects the military community with American businesses to create economic opportunity and a strong, diversified workforce.
“This event will show students the importance of networking, community and finding their ‘why,'” he said.
Hiring Our Heroes is an initiative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The program aims to create and connect meaningful employment opportunities for transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses in private and public sector positions.
Eighty percent of Hiring Our Heroes virtual hiring fair attendees advance to the next step of recruitment processes, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.
