With 19 team members, the group representing Penn State York has once again surpassed its goal of raising $2,000 in the Walk A Mile in Her Shoes event sponsored by the YWCA of York. The 2021 group raised $2,558, finishing as the fifth-place fundraising team overall.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness and funds to support the YWCA of York’s work to help survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. The walk took place on Oct. 14 at PeoplesBank Park in downtown York, Pennsylvania. The campus has gathered a team of walkers and helped sponsor the event for a number of years.

“I want to thank all those who supported our Penn State York Walk A Mile team,” said Robert Lehman, lieutenant, University Police and Public Safety as well as an organizer of the Penn State York Team. “Whether you walked, donated, or just came out and cheered us on, you played an important role.”
