UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — To provide the community with additional resources to help understand Penn State’s budget model and unit budget allocations, two new videos featuring Sara Thorndike, senior vice president for Finance and Business/treasurer and chief financial officer, have been added to the University’s budget website

The educational videos are designed to provide deeper background and insight into how the budget model works and the workbooks used to determine individual unit allocations. In the first video, Thorndike provides an overview of Penn State’s new hybrid budget model, and in the second video, Thorndike introduces the key elements of the budget model workbooks, which encompass the full data used to determine each unit’s budget allocation. Both videos can be viewed online here.

The videos are the latest in a series of steps Penn State leaders have taken to publicly share information about the budget model, including recent meetings with the University Faculty Senate, a blog by Thorndike on Penn State’s road map website, and the launch of a new page on the University’s budget website that contains links to the budget model spreadsheets, extensive FAQs, and a Google Form for submitting questions and feedback.

Each of these resources, as well as links to the new budget videos, is available by visiting budget.psu.edu.
