UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State chapter of the American Marketing Association (PSAMA) was named a Platinum Circle chapter at the 2024 AMA International Collegiate Conference (ICC), held in New Orleans in mid-April.

This is the second time the chapter has received the prestigious honor. PSAMA's exceptional track record includes being named International Chapter of the Year in both 2018 and 2023. The Platinum Circle award and the International Chapter of the Year award are distinct honors, and PSAMA has alternated between these two achievements over the past seven years, highlighting its consistent excellence in the field.

PSAMA's success at the 2024 ICC also extended to individual awards in various competitions. Sydney Boger, a fourth-year marketing major and vice president of PSAMA, competed in the AMA Sales Competition and was recognized as a finalist, receiving an honorable mention in the final round. Carolyn Gatti, a third-year marketing and business law major and the president of PSAMA, participated in the Perfect Pitch Competition, making it to the finals and receiving an honorable mention.

The theme for this year’s AMA International Collegiate Conference was Launch Your Future in Marketing.

“The key takeaway for me was the opportunity to connect with business professionals and aspiring marketers from other universities,” Gatti said. “These connections will undoubtedly shape my future career in marketing, paving the way for potential partnerships, mentorship and career opportunities.”

Brett Christenson, clinical assistant professor of marketing at the Smeal College of Business, and Keisha Nichols, associate clinical professor of marketing, served as faculty advisers for PSAMA.

“The organization has received the highest recognition eligible at the national ICC conference in four of the last seven years, including the last three years in a row,” said Christenson. “PSAMA's success is a testament to the dedication and talent of its members.”

PSAMA's outstanding performance at the ICC reflects its commitment to providing members with real-world business experience. The chapter offers a range of opportunities, including networking events, skill-building workshops, case competitions and professional development seminars, all aimed at preparing students for successful careers in marketing and beyond.
