About the Privacy Office

The mission of the Privacy Office is to serve as a central resource for issues of privacy and to provide leadership in the development of programs and practices to meet relevant privacy requirements and standards.

The Privacy Office is responsible for the implementation and administration of the Penn State HIPAA policies and Policy AD-19 regarding the use of the PSU ID and SSN (Social Security Number). Contact the Privacy Office at Privacy@psu.edu for more information and security requirements information.

Federal and state regulations, such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) are monitored by the Chief Privacy Officer to assure Penn State policies are in compliance.

The Privacy Office is currently located in 227 West Beaver Avenue, Suite 103, State College, PA 16801.
