The iStudy for Success! modules provide an introduction to college-level learning, focusing on areas in which first-year students often need to build skills, such as study methods, time management, and communication. The modules help students prepare for the work that lies ahead of them, both academically and on the job. Originally developed at the Jack P. Royer Center for Learning and Academic Technologies in the Commonwealth College at Penn State University for use in first-year seminars, the twenty-one modules have been adapted for use in an ANGEL course or group. The modules incorporate sophisticated course design, multimedia resources, and student-centered activities. Each module is designed so that it can stand alone or be used in combination with other modules and materials. An instructor can incorporate as many or as few modules as desired into an ANGEL course, and sequence them in any order. Students can also access the modules to incorporate them into an ANGEL group they have created for independent study and self-improvement. The modules are available to anyone with a Penn State Access Account. Each iStudy for Success! module contains an introduction, objectives, directions, references, and a summary. Activities make use of the assessment feature in ANGEL as well as the My Notes tool. Information about the topic is presented in two different formats, a page of information and a student conversation among members of a virtual team. |
