|Down in and along the stream there are many organisms deep in hibernation. Newts, frogs, toads, crayfish and many insects are buried deep in the frozen mud of the stream bank. Box turtles have dug spaces under old logs or deep into leaf piles and are sleeping the winter away. The active stream community is waiting for the warmth of the coming spring.
