Get Ready, Get Set, Let's Go!

Can you feel the excitement in the air? The grounds are spruced up, the classrooms and labs are sparkling, everyone is smiling. This is it. Our campuses are ready for students to arrive and classes to start for fall semester.

We have been welcoming students to the University since 1855. Throughout the years, our focus has remained the same: We offer the highest-quality education possible to our students for their success, in the context of our mission of teaching, research, and service.

Today, we are in the top 1 percent of universities worldwide, a Research-I institution with an internationally recognized faculty who teach and conduct groundbreaking research. Our students learn to be leaders with a global perspective. And employers hire Penn Staters—we were ranked No. 1 for college graduates who are best suited for the world of work in a 2010 survey of corporate recruiters by the Wall Street Journal.

The time students spend at Penn State can be some of the best years of their lives. The student experience includes opportunities for academic excellence in the classroom as well as through research and internships; membership in student organizations; arts and cultural events; and lifelong friendships. We have the largest alumni network in the country, allowing alums to maintain friendships and career contacts indefinitely.

At the heart of Penn State are people—our students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and residents in communities at our many campuses. The people who study and work at Penn State every day are dedicated to learning in a diverse and inclusive environment. To put it simply, education is what Penn Staters are all about.

So, let’s get ready, get set, and go into fall semester 2013!
