Astronomy Night at Behrend

7:30 PM - 8:30 PM / November 02, 2022

Lauren Pearce, assistant professor of physics at Penn State New Kensington, will present “The Case of the Missing Antimatter” at the next Open House Night in Astronomy at Penn State Behrend on Nov. 2. The program, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the Otto Behrend Science Building, is open to the public at no charge.

Pearce will discuss the early stages of the universe, when matter and antimatter collided. Everything we see in space today, she will explain, is “extra” matter that was created as the universe cooled.

Astronomical observing at the Mehalso Observatory will follow Pearce’s talk, weather permitting.

Open House Nights in Astronomy are an outreach program of the School of Science at Penn State Behrend. These scientific presentations are intended for ages 8 and up; for additional information, contact the school at 814-898-6105.
