Gregory Miller receives Lifetime Achievement Award

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Gregory Miller has received the 2022 Penn State Graduate School Alumni Society Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognizes alumni who have achieved exceptional success throughout the course of their career and have demonstrated loyalty to the University and to the Penn State Alumni Association.

Miller earned a master of science in nutrition from the College of Health and Human Development in 1982 and a doctorate in nutrition and toxicology from the College of Health and Human Development in 1986.

A world-renown expert on nutrition and food systems, Miller is chief science officer at the National Dairy Council, executive vice president of research, regulatory and scientific affairs for Dairy Management Inc., and global dairy sector lead for nutritional security for Global Dairy Platform.

In these roles, he works with industry, academic, governments, NGOs, and other professionals to build the technical research needed to understand sustainable food systems to deliver good nutrition. He is currently leading an effort to enhance science that contributes toward a more sustainable global food system by promoting activities at the intersection of nutrition, health, food insecurity, and environmental impact. He advises health professional organizations, industry, and governments around the globe.

An engaged member of the scientific community, Miller is a past member of the board of directors for the American Society of Nutrition and American College of Nutrition and President of the American College of Nutrition.

According to one nominator, "Miller represents the 'gold standard' for professional involvement with our students and faculty. He is a fabulous role model for our students to emulate. It has been very rewarding for me to watch Greg achieve great success in all that he does."

A founding member and president of the Penn State Nutrition and Dietetics Alumni Society, Miller is a Life Member of the Penn State Alumni Association. He received the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award in 2003.

For his accomplishments, Miller was recognized during the Graduate School Alumni Recognition Dinner on March 26.
