A look at the week's top stories from across Penn State:

FALL MESSAGE: Penn State President Eric Barron delivered a fall message to University faculty and staff as the fall semester gets underway.

BETTER WORLD: A new video shows how Penn Staters are building a better world together.

CLASS GIFT: The Penn State Class Gift Campaign is now accepting proposals for the 2017 Class Gift from all members of the University community.

STEM CRISIS: New research out of the College of Education shows that students who participate in career development and readiness courses related to their STEM majors are less likely to switch to another major.

DIVERSITY AWARD: For the fourth year in a row, Penn State has received the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, making it one of only 83 U.S. colleges and universities to receive the prestigious recognition.

HUNGER EFFORT: Nearly 100 volunteers, led by students from the physician assistant program at the College of Medicine and other members of the campus community, packaged more than 18,000 meals to be distributed to people in need throughout the world.
