UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics will again participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of impact that will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

Created in 2012, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, which includes holiday and end-of-year giving.

Penn State coaches and staff will spend part of #GivingTuesday giving back in the community. Intercollegiate Athletics has partnered with State College Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, the State College Food Bank, Housing Transitions, and Centre Safe (the former Centre County Women’s Resource Center) to make an impact in Centre County on Giving Tuesday.

Community members can drop off donations for Toys for Tots and the State College Food Bank at the Founders’/Guest Entrance on the east side of the Bryce Jordan Center from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 27.

Fans are encouraged to share their community service and the reasons they give by using #WeAreGiving on #PSUGivingTue.

The Challenge for Student-Athlete Excellence

Penn State Athletics is challenging alumni and fans to make a gift to the Levi Lamb Annual Fund on #GivingTuesday to help create the very best conditions for academic and athletic success for Nittany Lion student-athletes. Those who make a gift on Nov. 27 will participate in the challenge for student-athlete excellence and will receive Nittany Lion Club points benefits based on donation level. Visit GoPSUSports.com/GivingTuesday to participate.

Levi Lamb Fund

Contributions to the Levi Lamb Fund go directly to the greatest needs of Penn State Athletics, including awarding scholarships to student-athletes from all of Penn State’s 31 varsity sports. Increasing contributions to the annual fund will directly impact Nittany Lion student-athletes, including scholarships, student-athlete cost of attendance, and operational needs.

Any charitable gifts made to the Levi Lamb Fund will count in the totals on this day and will receive early renewal bonus points.

Payments made to satisfy per-seat donation requirements for Penn State football or men’s ice hockey may not be counted toward the giving day totals due to the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which disqualified these payments for charitable tax benefits. Please consult your tax adviser to determine the impact on your charitable giving to Penn State.

Gifts made by Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD donors) of any amount will result in an additional $100 to the Levi Lamb Fund.
