UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Brandi Breslin, director of education at Penn State's Palmer Museum of Art, has been named the 2023 Outstanding Museum Art Educator by the Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA).

Breslin, who came to Penn State in 2018 after serving more than a decade as a museum educator at the University of Florida’s Harn Museum of Art, will be presented with the award Oct. 7 in Erie during the PAEA annual conference.

“It’s delightful to have your work recognized, especially by a group of your peers who have a deep understanding of the challenges as well as the measures of success,” Breslin said. “PAEA is a dedicated group that actively supports and promotes visual art education, so the award is particularly meaningful coming from them.”

Erin Coe, director of the Palmer Museum of Art, said that Breslin has led the Palmer Museum’s education department with vision and purpose and established innovative programs, resources and events that have engaged and impacted Penn State students and local communities.

“Her work is strongly rooted in our values of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and she strives each day to make the museum more accessible,” Coe said. “Brandi is a tremendous asset to the arts and museum educator community here at Penn State, across the commonwealth, and beyond. We are thrilled that she is being recognized with this prestigious award.”

With more than 900 members, the PAEA, established in 2012, has actively supported and promoted visual art education through professional development, leadership and service.

Benjamin Hoffman, president of the PAEA, said in an email that Breslin stands out as a leader and is committed to the continued growth and collaborative efforts of art educators across Pennsylvania.

“Her creative contributions, excellence in professional engagement, and dedication to service are meritorious and deserve our recognition,” Hoffman said.
