Brandywine LaunchBox to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week

MEDIA, Pa. — The Brandywine LaunchBox powered by Penn State, a signature program of the Invent Penn State initiative, is collaborating with local community partners to offer a series of events to support Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), which will take place during the week of Nov. 8-12.

The Global Entrepreneurship Network seeks to connect with a vibrant ecosystem of entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and other startup champions in more than 170 countries. One of the thematic priorities for 2021 is working collaboratively among community partners to support a local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

According to GEW Penn State, “GEW ecosystems aim to inspire communities to collaborate and share their networks and markets to help their rising startups thrive. This theme celebrates the shared challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship communities and hubs around the world.”

The Brandywine LaunchBox is offering two events in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania:

  • Community Conversations: Women Entrepreneurs will be held at noon on Nov. 9. This session will include a panel of accomplished regional female entrepreneurs.
  • Meet Ben will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 12. This session will discuss the resources available for entrepreneurs through Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Both programs will be held virtually and there is no fee to attend.

In addition, the Brandywine LaunchBox is a designated American Express Small Business Neighborhood Champion. The LaunchBox is partnering with the Lansdowne Economic Development Corporation to promote local small businesses as the holiday shopping season begins. Nov. 27 is Small Business Saturday and Lansdowne will be hosting a holiday art show and sale on Nov. 26 and 27.

Invent Penn State is a commonwealth-wide initiative to spur economic development, job creation and student career success.
