UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will hold two public webinars in March, with “Public Service Loan Forgiveness: Overview and Updates” at noon on March 4, and “Car Shopping” at noon on March 18.

The “Public Service Loan Forgiveness: Overview and Updates” webinar will provide essential information for individuals employed by government, nonprofit and other public service organizations with federal student loans. The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program offers a pathway to loan forgiveness after 120 qualifying monthly payments have been made. This webinar will cover program basics and eligibility rules, steps to achieve loan forgiveness, the latest updates from the Department of Education and navigating PSLF as a Penn State employee. Audience Q&A will be welcome.

The “Car Shopping” webinar will provide essential guidance for navigating the car buying process. From setting a budget to deciding between a new or used vehicle, this session will equip participants with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions and avoid hidden costs or scams. Tune in to learn about buying a reliable car on a budget, shopping strategies, inspecting and test driving and legal requirements and finalizing the purchase.

A list of webinars open to the public, including the series’ Zoom registration link, can be found at the program's website.

Self-study modules are available here from “MoneyCounts: A Penn State Financial Literacy Series.”
