UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State University Libraries’ Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library will reopen to the public on a limited basis on Wednesday, Sept. 20, after having sustained water damage during a small fire Aug. 28 in the Stuckeman Family Building.

The library will have temporarily reduced public hours of 1 to 6 p.m. Sundays, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, closed Saturdays. Employees will continue refilling library shelves and completing other necessary restorative tasks during and beyond public hours as they work toward returning to normal operational status.

“We are grateful for our library users’ patience while the Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library remained closed to assess, dry and repair our impacted spaces and library materials,” said Betsaida Reyes, University Libraries head of humanities and social sciences.

“Unfortunately, some books and journals in the collection were water damaged and will not be available in the short term,” she added. “We request our users’ continued patience as we work behind the scenes, with the aim of minimizing disruptions to users’ study and research, so we may bring our services back to standard operation as soon as possible.”

Materials temporarily unavailable in the University Libraries online catalog may be requested from other libraries using the “I Want It” button.

Library users with questions or in need of additional assistance may call 814-865-3614 or email UL-ARCH@lists.psu.edu.
