Penn State Scranton’s Sigma Beta Delta welcomes new inductees

DUNMORE. Pa. — This spring the campus’ Beta Sigma Delta honor society inducted three new outstanding students to its ranks. Michael DeWolfe and Francesca Villano, both pursuing bachelor of science in business degrees, along with Amanda Delhagen, studying project and supply chain management, were honored for their exceptional academic achievements.

Sigma Beta Delta, renowned internationally for recognizing scholastic excellence in business, management, and administration, selects students who rank in the top 20% of their class and demonstrate outstanding extracurricular engagement.

Spearheaded by Business Program Coordinator James Wilkerson, along with faculty members Angela Bassani and Zhuang Qian, the honor society represents the pinnacle of academic achievement for business and project and supply chain students.

Membership in Sigma Beta Delta is a prestigious honor, symbolizing the highest recognition a business student can achieve at Penn State Scranton.

To qualify for membership, students must have at least sixth semester standing, rank in the top 10% of their GPA, demonstrate significant extracurricular engagement, and maintain academic integrity without any violations on record. Invitation to join Sigma Beta Delta is selective, reflecting the society's commitment to recognizing excellence and leadership in business education.

Established in 1994, Sigma Beta Delta continues a 200-year tradition of honoring academic excellence in higher education, aligning with the esteemed Phi Beta Kappa honor society. With over 400 chapters across 47 states and internationally, Sigma Beta Delta boasts a membership of over 80,000 individuals recognized for their outstanding academic achievements.
